Mixed chancery folio and half-sheet royal quarto; double columns, [1]₂ recto: 34 lines, 190 x 122 mm; type: 102R; initial spaces without guide letters.
COPY NOTE: Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy Q.404.65 FOLIO no.1 imperfect: leaf [1]₁(=blank) wanting. Lower half of [17]₈ torn away, with no losses to text, and replaced with later paper. Early pen trials and inscriptions on [17]₈ verso, including a portion of a psalm, a prayer to St. Christopher, and a sketch of a woman holding a scepter. Gatherings signed (a-r) in an early/contemporary hand. Gatherings [1], [14], and [17] printed on sheets of chancery paper; gatherings [2], [4]-[12], and [15] printed on half sheets of royal paper; gatherings [3], [13], and [16] printed on a mixture of both chancery and half-royal. Bound in at rear and signed continuosly from the printed text (s-u), a manuscript of 35 leaves titled "Propositio aduersus quosdam Curiosos Detractores" by Lupus de Speio (Lope de Espejo; cataloged separately). Leaf dimensions: 278 x 196 mm.

BINDING: Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy Q.404.65 FOLIO no.1 halfbound in ca. 18th-century mottled sheepskin and marbled papers. Spine ruled in gilt with red leather label. All edges stained yellow.
